Culture and Community Under the Highway

June 23, 2009

212301013_aed5c02949Chicano Park was founded on April 22, 1970 by the community of Barrio Logan and Chicano movement activists. They joined forces to protest the building of a highway patrol station in what is today the park, a site right under the San Diego Coronado Bridge.

This year they celebrate their 39th anniversary.
